What to do on Alabama’s lakes this Fourth of July

This week will be full of Independence Day celebrations on the lakes. Check out a fireworks show, concert, rodeo or parade – there’s something for everyone!


Randolph County Sheriff PCA Rodeo

Dates: Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1

Time: 5 p.m. on Friday, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday

Location: Wedowee Rodeo Grounds

This annual fundraiser for the sheriff’s department has been an Independence Day fixture at the Wedowee Rodeo Grounds since 2010. In addition to bronco riding and steer wrestling, the event will feature live music and, on Saturday night, a fireworks show over Lake Harris. Music & Fireworks Morgan Creek

Date: Tuesday, July 4

Time: 5 p.m.

Location: Morgan Creek Vineyards

Join us in the vineyard Tuesday, July 4, for wine tastings, live music, winery tours, barbecue and spectacular fireworks! Special opening music begins at 5 p.m. and fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Bring a blanket and chairs for the perfect spot in the vineyard. $10 per person at the gate and ages 12 and under are free. Reserved tables are available for $35 per table and seat up to eight people.

Fireworks on the Lake

Date: July 1

Time: 8:45 p.m.

Location: Woods Surfside Marina

Begin the Independence Day celebration with fireworks on Saturday at 8:45 p.m.

Clear Creek Harbor Fireworks

Date: July 3

Time: 9 p.m.

Location: Clear Creek Harbor

The annual fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. and be held on the point of the harbor.


4th of July Boat Parade

Date: July 4

Time: 10-11 a.m.

Location: Kowaliga Marina

Boats of all sizes will line up single-file and parade from Kowaliga Marina to Children’s Harbor, circling just past the lighthouse and heading back to the marina. 4th of July Blast

Date: Tuesday, July 4

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Location: Lake Martin Amphitheater

Alabama’s largest fireworks show is sure to not disappoint. This year’s live entertainment will include Muse, The Sweet Young’uns and Karen Carter. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., the entertainment begins at 6:30 and the fireworks are expected to start around 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 and children ages 6 and under are free. Fourth of July Boat Parade

Date: July 4

Time: 10 a.m.

Boats will gather at Higgins Ferry Park at 10 a.m. to assemble the parade led by the Fire and Rescue boat. The parade will weave its way around the lake, finishing with a ski boat parade after lunch.

The Gadsden Etowah Patriots Association Independence Day Fireworks show will be on the 4th of July from 9 p.m. to 9:20 p.m.


Smith Lake 4th of July Fireworks and Music Festival

Date: Saturday, July 1

Time: 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m.

There is fun for the whole family at the Smith Lake Park 4th of July Fireworks and Music Festival. Admission is $5 per person at the gate.
