Recreation

A love of the outdoors plays a central role in the lives and culture of Alabamians. That is why we focus on protecting our state’s natural resources and promoting their recreational enjoyment on many of the lakes and lands we manage.

Alabama Power – with the help of numerous partners – is able to provide more than 45 public recreation sites on the 11 reservoirs it manages across the state. These sites include five day-use facilities, dozens of boat ramps and handicap-accessible hunting and fishing opportunities that provide open access to the beauty and fun of the state’s abundant natural resources. The majority of Alabama Power’s recreation sites are “carry-in, carry-out” and no trash cans are provided. Visitors are asked to come prepared to take their trash along with them.
