Alabama Power is permanently raising the normal winter pool levels at Weiss and Logan Martin lakes on the Coosa River.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved the company’s request to permanently raise the winter levels and modify flood operations at both lakes. The implementation was coordinated with the Corps and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The normal winter pool level at Weiss Lake will be raised by three feet, from 558 to 561 feet. At Logan Martin, the normal winter pool will increase by two feet, from 460 to 462 feet. The change will take effect Sept. 1.
