Due to the extreme temperatures and lack of recent rainfall, it is unlikely the Lake Martin Conditional Fall Extension will be implemented on Sept. 1, per the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license. The company would start its normal process of lowering levels on Lake Martin Sept. 1 if conditions remain the same.
Alabama Power will continue to monitor changing conditions throughout September. The drawdown process takes several weeks, expecting to conclude by mid-November.
Alabama Power encourages people with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities to pay close attention to the changing conditions on the lake, remain mindful of personal safety and be prepared to take necessary steps to protect their property.
