Alabama Power is scheduled to conduct its annual test of the Automated Downstream Notification System on Thursday, October 30. This test will be conducted around 9:00 AM and is an essential part of ensuring the safety and preparedness of communities and area residents.
Residents living immediately downstream of the Bouldin, Harris, Jordan, Lay, and Mitchell dams may receive a phone call, text, or email alert during the test. The alert system is designed to notify residents promptly in the event of an emergency.
During the test, the message will clearly state that it is only a test, emphasizing that there is no actual emergency and no action is required from residents.
“Safety is our top priority,” said Dax Bumpers, General Manager of Southern Company Hydro. “We conduct these tests to ensure that our alert systems, including sirens, are always ready to function effectively in the unlikely event of an emergency.
